Hello world!

Ok, we’re trying a new way of blogging to see if we can get everything to work right.

I Scrapped! – Again

I was able to get 2 whole layouts done yesterday. I’m rather impressed with myself after a lack of scrapping lately. I’ve noticed my scrapping is directly proportional to the amount of pictures I take. I really should delve into that pile of pictures I have from film and scan and scrap many of those too. But, did I mention I scrapped 2 layouts yesterday?

I do want to mention that during the thought process of scrapping these layouts I was going through my CT stuff and looking through Rose’s store to see if anything struck my fancy yesterday when I noticed that Rose has a brand new template pack up for sale. I’m sorry, but I just love her templates. Who else sells 30 templates for $10? You do the math. It’s a bargain. So if you’re interested, check them out at Rose’s Scrapper’s Zone store.

Ok, ok, the layouts. It’s all about the layouts, isn’t it? As always, click for full credits.

The first one I did I got the kick in the butt from Oscraps and the challenge from Sue Cummings. I’ll be honest. I’m in it for the coupons LOL. I don’t even care if I win any of the prizes. I’d probably pee myself if I actually got chosen to be published. There’s some awesome layouts over there that have already been submitted and it goes until the 30th, so I can only imagine what else will be submitted by then.

The second layout I was inspired by the first. I was just on a roll at that point. Z has finally learned how to tie his shoes on his own. That’s been a big thing in our house amongst the loose teeth and other 1st grade stuff. This is a different sort of layout for me too, but I like how it came out.

Dentists and Check Ups, Oh My!

The week was relatively quiet despite my having to run most every day. I had to go to the dentist first for an exam then for a cleaning. Seems they won’t just schedule a new patient for a cleaning. Look mom, no cavities LOL.

Then Pork Chop had his check up Friday. He’s 33 inches tall and 26 pounds. He’s wearing Z’s 3T clothes at 17 months. Z had to have been in a 3T at 2 1/2 years and up because I still have them. I gave his smaller sized clothes away before we moved to this house. Pork Chop’s going to be a big boy I think. OK, so he’s still technically a 2T with pants, but that’s because I think he got his mama’s stubby legs. I forgot how much I love the elastic and adjustable waists for my no butt boys too. I swear, even when in diapers they can’t keep their pants up.

Z goes in to get his ear checked Monday morning before school. I’m really hoping the fluid is gone. His last appointment they did a tympanopgraph and it was completely flat in that ear. If it’s not cleared up after this 2nd round of antibiotics, then he has to see the ENT. He’s afraid he’ll have to get tubes like his brother. I am too. He’s hardly had ear issues until these last few weeks.

Well that doe sit for me. I’ve gotten nothing new scrapped. I do have some new pics I’d like to work on if the boys let me. Maybe tomorrow. DH has off tomorrow for the first time in 3 weeks. Hey, that means I haven’t had a day off in 3 straight weeks either. I hope everyone has a good weekend. I’m off to wrangle 2 boys.

It’s Monday

Whoopdeedoo, it’s Monday. Nothing exciting here today. I’m enjoying the peace and quiet after the weekend. DH was gone all weekend because of drill, so it was just me, the boys, and my sinus infection. Thank goodness for school some days. It’s drizzling and cloudy here so if there isn’t a nap in my future today there’s at least some quality time with a good book during Pork Chop’s nap times.

Speaking of books, I’ve read 2 in the last week or so that were very good – The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs and The Dirty Girls Social Club by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez. Both great books, both about empowering women but also being feminine, and both have a tear jerking twist. I’d definitely recommend them both.

That’s it for my Monday unless someone wants to come over and do my laundry, clean out the refrigerator and take out the garbage since it’s garbage night. I did finally scrap over the weekend, and you can see those layouts in the previous post.

I Scrapped!!!!!

Will wonders never cease? I really think hell froze over or something today. I finally got my own domain for my blog and started working on that. So far it seems to be a smooth transition as I work on prettying things up a bit.

We also had to go back to the doctor for myself this time (sinus infection – ick) and my kids sat there and finished eating their dry cereal from baggies. And before you throw me to the CPS wolves, it was an 8:45am appointment. Normally my boys are up at 6am, but noooooooo, today they want to sleep in. We were in and out of the doc’s office in 20 minutes.

Then we went and dropped of my prescription (have I mentioned how much I love CVS‘ drive thru pharmacy?). After that I ran over to the mall to exchange some jeans that didn’t fit. To my surprise, the jeans were an additional $3.60 off today, so I got a refund on my exchange. I haven’t gotten a pair of jeans for about $15 in forever (JC Penney’s in case your’e wondering).

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful. And the best part is during Pork Chop’s 2nd nap, I scrapped 2 pages! Oh it felt so good to scrap again! I was inspired my Rose’s new kit Rainy Day Blues ($1.05 at Scrapper’s Zone until Monday). And don’t forget that all of Rose’s stuff is 70% off until Monday. I know, I’m a bad digiscrapping friend with all my enabling, but y’all do it to me too, so I consider it a fair trade.

Such Good Boys

Let me start off by saying I have no delusions about my children. Yesterday at the doctor’s office they acted like caged monkeys at the zoo. Of course that was partially the fault of the office staff for calling us back to the exam room 5 minutes after we got there, where we then sat for another 40 minutes before FINALLY seeing the doctor. But believe me, I was DONE. We all talk about how our kids get cranky and overstimulated. Well, that was me by the time we left the doc’s office yesterday.

After all that craziness, we dropped of Z’s prescription for his ear. For those interested or keeping up, round #2 of antibiotics, but the hole in his ear drum is closed. There’s still fluid in there though. Anyway, I use the drive thru pharmacy because any errand I can do with both kids strapped in and seated is great. Then we play musical drive thrus for dinner. Not a problem, and my choice really. Everything is so close together on the strip, I’ll go get my sweet tea at McD’s and food at Arby’s LOL. Then back to the pharmacy to get the prescription and home again. This was all done in peace as the boys sat in their respective seats and ate.

On the way home I was listening to my Big & Rich CD. I was missing DH, and for some reason I was extra sentimental, so I wanted to hear their song 8Th of November. It touches me every time I hear it. I also made it DH’s ring tone when I got my new phone for a change of pace. He used to be Toby Keith’s American Soldier. So, the song ended, then there’s what I consider to be a good version of The Star Spangled Banner with The Pledge of Allegiance woven within the song. We’ve always stressed to Z mostly since he’s old enough that when you hear The Star Spangled Banner, you stop whatever you’re doing, stand if you’re sitting, and put your right hand over your heart. So as I looked in my rear view mirror in the course of normal driving, there’s my 6yo, hand over heart. I made me cry a little. I guess there are some things they do listen to when we talk.

Card and a Sale

I think I’ve got what is the final card front for my housewarming cards. I think. As for credits, since I’m not sure I’m totally done with the card, I don’t have them all, but I got the house stuff at The Lily Pad, The frame is Kim Higueria’s from Scrapbook Elements, and the sun doodle is a freebie from the Little Dreamer Designs Apprentice Contest.

Allergies

First, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who said they enjoyed my links yesterday. Even though I didn’t have anyone to officially tag, many of you said you’d post your links. Thank you for that too. I look forward to seeing what they are. I think it’s a nice way to learn a little about our fellow digiscrappers and bloggers.

OK, now for the “fun” stuff. I spent the better part of 2 hours at the allergy doctor yesterday – with both kids. Poor Z has to get allergy shots. The meds just aren’t really working for the poor kid. And I can see why. He’s allergic to so much crap he has to have 2 injections at a time.

Then there’s me. I told him I’d get the shots with him. Little did I know I’m allergic to even more crap than he is. I too get 2 injections per visit. The dust mite and horse spots made me feel like I was a 5yo with the chicken pox all over again. OMG was I itchy! And who knew I was allergic to horses? Who knew they even tested for that? But again, I’m not allergic to cockroaches, and neither is Z, so we can have a pet cockroach LOL. They also did lung function tests because of my asthma. I had a doctor back right after I had Z tell me that if I didn’t do this and that I’d have emphysema by the time I was 40. The allergist said he was fullacrap and my lung function is good. I just need to keep doing what I’m doing. That would be making sure my albuterol isn’t expired because I use it so infrequently. Allergy season and the hot humid weather set me off, but that’s about it now that I don’t play competitive sports anymore.

I should apologize to the neighbor’s maple tree too. I’ve been cursing that thing since we moved in because I have to wash my vehicle every time I get in it during the pollen season. That tree makes my truck yellow, when it’s normally silver. It turns out I’m not allergic to trees. I’m allergic to the spring molds. It just so happens that the molds are flying around at the same time as the tree pollen. So big maple tree out back, I apologize.

I hope to be back later with some layouts. I have several cards I need to make too. My sister turns 21 next week. Man that makes me feel old, but that’s a whole other post.

Tagged!

Ok, Rose Tagged me. I only have one problem with this one and it’s that I don’t have 5 people to tag back. So, if you’d like to consider yourself tagged, feel free to participate.

Just copy paste THIS and everything below up until my Five links.
I thought it would be cool to have a meme where we post links. We can post up to five.
Then we tell five more people to share their links. If we all share who tagged us, our links are sure to be seen!
They can be business links, favorite sites, affiliate links, whatever you want…
There are Five Rules:
1. MUST be clean. No R rated sites.
2. Only FIVE links.
3. MUST tell 5 people.
4. A link back to the person who tagged you
5. Lara’s Place is the meme originator. (an active link is appreciated)

Here are my 5 Links:

1. Motherhood Uncensored OMG this chick cracks me up.

2. Operation Baby Blanket Great group of women who provide a care package of a handmade blanket, cap, and set of announcements to wives of deployed soldiers who give birth at military hospitals. Spouses of deployed soldiers who are pregnatn can also sign up for a sponsor for support.

3. America Supports You An invaluable resource of links for those who want to support our troops and their families.

4. National Military Family Association Honestly, we’re members because it looks good for DH’s Army political career (BS if you ask me). But I have found very useful information from them over the years.

5. Clubmom Online Mall This is where I do the majority of my online shopping through so I get points per dollar and then my points usually get redeemed for an Applebee’s gift card. This has especially come in handy sin cewe moved to BFE and anything other than Walmart is an hour’s drive.

Serious Enabling Today

Ok, today I’m pimping products. Make It Scrappy is closing its doors April 1st, so all of Rose McDigital Design’s stuff is 50%-75% off. Her Mega Template Packs (we’re talking around 30 templates in a pack here people) are $2.50. I’m sure some of the other designers over there have stuff on sale too, but I don’t know them or their designs. I know Rose, and she’s a sweetie, so I’d pimp her stuff all day if she asked me to. If you’re interested, clicking the image will take you to Rose’s part of the store. Pssssstttt, she’s S4H friendly too.
